Chargers Injury Report – Week 1
Injury Report,There were a couple of Chargers injuries that made the headlines in the preseason. Tight end Jason Verrett tore his Achilles in the preseason. The injury is a concern for the Chargers. The Chargers may be able to fill in at tight end with rookie Tyree Jackson.
Donald Parham Jr. is in stable condition
The Los Angeles Chargers have announced that wide receiver Donald Parham Jr. is in stable condition following an injury. Parham, who is in his second year with the team, suffered an injury to his head during a game on Sunday. The injury happened as he tried to make a diving catch near the back of the end zone on fourth down. He was unable to make the catch in time, so his head ricocheted off the turf and hit the ground.
Cornerback J.C. Jackson is a non-participant
The Chargers released the final injury report for Week 1 on Friday. They have three players with game designations, including cornerback J.C. Jackson, who is working through individual drills. While he is unlikely to play in Week 1, the Chargers are hopeful that he will be able to play at some point in the season.
Tight end Jason Verrett tore his Achilles in preseason
The Los Angeles Chargers suffered a second blow to their already injury-prone defense when they lost starting cornerback Jason Verrett to an Achilles tendon injury during a preseason conditioning test. The injury essentially ended Verrett’s season, as the Chargers were due to pay him over $8 million for his fifth season.
Tight end Tyree Jackson could fill in at tight end
In case of injury to tight end Eric Weddle, the Chargers could turn to a veteran tight end to fill in. Jackson, a former Buffalo Bills quarterback, is 6’7″ and weighs 249 pounds. He ran a 4.59-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Joey Bosa is out until October
In his third season in the NFL, Joey Bosa is a standout pass-rusher for the Chargers. Since making his debut, he has recorded 23 sacks and five forced fumbles. The injury is expected to be minor, but that doesn’t mean he won’t play again in October.
Isaiah Spiller tore his ACL in preseason
The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with a big injury to their running back. Isaiah Spiller tore his ACL during the preseason against the Chargers. While the injury is not serious, it will be worth watching if you are drafting fantasy football players. Before the injury, Spiller was third on the depth chart behind Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree III. Despite that, Spiller remains a viable fantasy pick.
Stone Smartt tore his Achilles in preseason
The Ravens are already without several key players after Stone Smartt tore his Achilles in the preseason. First-round center Tyler Linderbaum has been sidelined with a foot injury, and second-round outside linebacker David Ojabo will miss weeks or months of practice. Fourth-round tight end Charlie Kolar has been out all training camp and has not played a single preseason snap. Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis missed both preseason games.
